TTCI - Instructor PT

The incumbent will provide classroom instruction, supervise field exercises and support for all training programs offered through the Security and Emergency
Response Training Center (SERTC). Instructors are expected
to be proficient in flammable liquid/gas firefighting, foam applications, and other applicable
firefighting skills; along with, hazardous materials emergency response for all modes of surface transportation.

Description

Will provide logistical support for training activities through set up and take down of training aids. Promote Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) as a professional philosophy when dealing with internal and external customers and fellow employees.  Function successfully as a team member. Contribute in a positive manner to accomplish the training team's overall objectives.  Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands: This work requires walking, standing, bending, sitting and carrying of small packages or containers. Travel to field locations to coordinate training activities may be involved. Work may also involve considerable physical exertion while demonstrating a variety of emergency response techniques and methods.

Work Environment: The normal work place is a classroom or office, and inside/outside physical exercise areas. Position duties will require exposure to varying climate and environmental conditions, both cold and warm weather conditions and/or exposure to high levels of noise

Requirements

High School Diploma

Valid Driver’s License

Excellent reading, writing and oral communication skills

Hazardous Materials Operations Certificate

Fire Fighter one (1), essentials of Fire Fighting, or equivalent

Hydrocarbon Fire Fighting and Foam Applications

2 Years in emergency response

2 years of experience specific to railroad, highway, and intermodal transportation

2 Years of experience in public speaking or instruction.  Knowledge of education methodology a plus.

Incumbent MUST pass Firefighter Fitness for Duty

Incumbent MUST live in Colorado and be willing to drive to TTCI / SERTC when assigned.

Incumbent must be able to pass a Federal, State and Local back ground check.

Maintain certifications in the following areas: HazMat Technician, Firefighter I, Essentials of Firefighting or equivalent, Instructor I and II or equivalent, NIMS/ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800. Additional certifications maybe required based on job assignment.

Maintain a current knowledge of relevant DOT, EPA, OSHA regulations, NIMS/ICS, and NFPA Standards as they apply to emergency response activities and training.Function successfully as a team member. Contribute in a positive manner to accomplish the training team's overall objectives.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Hazardous Materials Technician / Specialist

5 Years of experience in emergency response

5 Years experience in public speaking, adult education, conference or trade specific lectures

Advanced user experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office  applications.
